“Is it a celebration or an end? Either way, it's all good!!”
This work, born from a dialogue with Taiwanese dancer Hu Jia, marks the first step in a journey exploring the potential for collaborative creation, using the myths and folktales of Taiwan and Japan as guides. Each country will produce its own work, a “work in progress” leading toward a future joint performance.
Myths and folktales—stories passed down through the ages, constantly shifting, transforming, and being reborn.
Even as we seem to stand on stable ground, we are actually in the midst of a world where both the economy and the environment quietly crumble. The “shared happy ending” no longer exists; an unstable, uncertain reality is here and now.
In such times, we dance.
Prayers connecting people and unseen beings have pulsed through our souls, changing form across time.
“The act of gradually reclaiming lost physicality and gently repositioning the soul.”
Both the living and the formless exist and walk together.
A journey through destruction and rebirth, creating a new world.
Embracing chaos and order, life and death—all of it—
Like a bright celebration.
